Summary

This study looked at whether adding specific breathing exercises to mat Pilates can improve heart and lung fitness, reduce shortness of breath, lower stress and anxiety, and boost quality of life in people with stage II high blood pressure. Sixty-three adults aged 40 to 50 took part in six weeks of supervised sessions, three times a week. The goal was to see which breathing method—paced or diaphragmatic—works better alongside Pilates.
