Calm before the cut: simple breathing technique eases surgery fears
NCT ID NCT03981731
Summary
This study tested if a guided breathing technique called 'cardiac coherence,' paired with a hypnosis session, could help reduce anxiety before surgery and improve recovery afterward. It involved 53 adults scheduled for breast or gynecologic cancer surgery. The goal was to see if this non-drug approach was a practical and helpful way to manage the stress of the surgical process.
