Free pumps and pickup aim to close breast milk gap for tiniest infants
NCT ID NCT04540575
Summary
This study tested whether providing practical support helps mothers of very small premature babies continue providing their own breast milk. Researchers gave some mothers free hospital-grade breast pumps, arranged for pumped milk to be picked up from their homes, and compensated them for their time. They compared these mothers to others who received standard hospital lactation support to see if the extra help increased how much breast milk the babies received by the time they left the hospital.
