Which technique best finds hidden breast lesions? study aims to find out
NCT ID NCT05942105
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks back at over 1,000 women who had breast-conserving surgery for non-palpable breast lesions. It compares four techniques used to locate these hidden lesions: wire-guided localization, radioguided occult lesion localization, magnetic seeds, and carbon dye. The goal is to see which method leads to the most complete tumor removal with clear surgical margins, reducing the chance of needing a second surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could help doctors choose the best technique for removing non-palpable breast lesions, potentially reducing the need for repeat surgeries.
What could go wrong
This is a retrospective study, meaning it looks back at past data, so it cannot prove one technique is better than another. Results may not apply to all patients.
