MRI may let thousands of breast cancer patients ditch radiation

Summary
This study is testing whether a breast MRI before surgery can identify women with early breast cancer who have a very low risk of the cancer coming back, allowing them to skip radiotherapy after surgery. About 1,400 women aged 50 and older with certain types of breast cancer will be enrolled. The goal is to see if avoiding radiation is safe and still keeps the cancer from returning in the same breast.
