Could many breast cancer patients skip a major surgery?

NCT ID NCT04854005

Summary

This study is testing whether some patients with early-stage, hormone-positive breast cancer that has spread to 1-2 lymph nodes can safely avoid a major surgery called axillary lymph node dissection (ALND). Researchers want to see if using a less invasive lymph node procedure during initial surgery, followed by standard radiation, is just as effective for controlling the cancer. The goal is to reduce surgery-related side effects like arm swelling and limited movement while maintaining good cancer outcomes.
