First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looked at whether using a special local anesthetic (tumescent local anesthesia) during breast cancer surgery leads to less pain afterward compared to general anesthesia. 349 women with breast cancer or ductal carcinoma in situ took part. The goal was to see if this approach, which keeps patients awake, can improve recovery and reduce risks.
