New surgical 'Shaving' technique aims to spare breast cancer patients a second operation

NCT ID NCT05782686

Summary

This study is testing if a technique called 'systematic shaving' during breast-conserving surgery can help surgeons remove all the cancer in one operation. It compares the new shaving method to standard surgery in 234 patients to see if it leads to fewer cases where cancer cells are found at the edge of the removed tissue. The main goal is to reduce the need for patients to go back for a second surgery to remove more tissue.
