First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tested whether a newer 3D breast X-ray (tomosynthesis) is better than standard 2D mammography at finding breast cancer early in women aged 45-74. Over 26,000 women participated. The goal was to see if the 3D method reduces the number of advanced cancers and cancers found between screenings.
