New imaging test could spot hidden breast cancers in dense tissue

NCT ID NCT03220893

Summary

This study tested whether adding a newer imaging method called molecular breast imaging (MBI) to standard 3D mammography (DBT) helps find more invasive breast cancers in women with dense breast tissue. Over 3,000 women aged 40-75 with dense breasts underwent both screening tests for two years. The goal was to see if the combined approach detects cancers that might be missed by mammography alone.
