New approach offers hope to keep breast after cancer returns
NCT ID NCT06362616
Summary
This study is testing a two-step treatment for women aged 51+ whose breast cancer has returned in the same breast. Instead of removing the entire breast, doctors first give five quick, targeted radiation treatments to the small area of recurrence. One to two weeks later, surgeons remove just that area, aiming to control the cancer while preserving the breast.
