Shorter radiation schedule tested for breast cancer recovery

NCT ID NCT01413269

Summary

This study tested whether a shorter radiation schedule (fewer, larger doses) works as well as the standard longer schedule for early-stage breast cancer patients after breast-conserving surgery. It involved 720 patients who were randomly assigned to receive one of the two radiation approaches. The goal was to see if the shorter treatment was equally effective at preventing cancer from returning and had similar side effects.
