Doctors test shorter, stronger radiation blast for breast tumors

NCT ID NCT00872625

Summary

This early-stage study tested a new approach for treating breast cancer before surgery. It combined a shorter, more intense course of targeted radiation (CyberKnife) with chemotherapy drugs. The main goal was to find the safest and most effective radiation dose to shrink tumors, with the hope of allowing more women to have breast-conserving surgery instead of a full mastectomy.
