Spinal fluid test could spot hidden cancer spread

NCT ID NCT05286684

Summary

This small study explored whether analyzing tiny particles (exosomes) in spinal fluid could help diagnose when breast cancer spreads to the lining of the brain and spinal cord (meningitis). Researchers collected spinal fluid from 7 breast cancer patients with suspected spread and analyzed its protein makeup. The goal was to see if this new analysis method could provide clearer diagnostic information than current tests.
