New surgical flap aims to stop debilitating arm swelling in breast cancer patients

NCT ID NCT07415200

Summary

This study is testing whether a new surgical technique can prevent arm swelling (lymphedema) after breast cancer surgery. During standard lymph node removal, surgeons will rotate a small flap of tissue from the chest wall into the armpit to help support fluid drainage. The study will follow 100 high-risk patients for up to two years to see if this simple addition to surgery safely reduces swelling and improves recovery.
