Scientists test quick immune boost before breast cancer surgery

NCT ID NCT05180006

Summary

This study tested whether a short course of immunotherapy drugs, given just before standard surgery or chemotherapy, could boost the immune system's attack on early-stage breast cancer. Researchers measured changes in specific immune cells in tumor samples taken before and after the short treatment. The trial was designed to gather information on how these drugs work and their safety, but it was terminated early and enrolled only 33 of a planned 185 patients.
