Could a blood test and special camera replace unnecessary breast biopsies?

NCT ID NCT06268405

First seen May 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study is testing two new experimental methods—a blood test called liquid biopsy and a special camera called PEM—to see if they can help doctors find breast cancer more accurately in women at high risk. About 100 women who are already scheduled for an MRI-guided biopsy will also give a blood sample and get a PEM scan. If these tools work well, they might reduce the need for unnecessary biopsies and ease anxiety for high-risk women.
