NCT ID NCT03351803

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is testing a digital health tool to help more people of Ashkenazi Jewish descent get tested for BRCA gene mutations, which increase cancer risk. Over 5,400 participants will use a web portal to learn about testing and decide whether to proceed. The goal is to see if this approach can make genetic testing a routine part of healthcare.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Digital health solution (web portal for genetic testing access)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that a digital approach can expand access to genetic testing for people at higher risk of BRCA-related cancers.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study focused on feasibility and access, not on treatment. It may not lead to direct health improvements, and results may not apply to other populations.
