Scientists hunt for the hidden genes behind a widespread heart condition

NCT ID NCT04514445

Summary

This study aims to discover the genetic causes of bicuspid aortic valve (BAV), a common heart defect where the aortic valve has two leaflets instead of three. Researchers will recruit 700 participants, including people with BAV and their family members, to compare their DNA and identify specific gene changes linked to the condition. The goal is to better understand why this serious condition runs in families, which could help improve future care.
