New scan could sharpen aim of brain tumor radiation

NCT ID NCT02104310

Summary

This study is testing if a special type of PET scan (using a tracer called 18F-DOPA) can help doctors more accurately plan radiation treatment for malignant brain tumors. It will compare the radiation target areas identified by this new scan with those from the standard MRI scan. The goal is to see if the PET scan can better distinguish the aggressive tumor tissue from healthy brain, potentially leading to more precise treatment.
