Brain rewiring trial offers hope for phantom pain sufferers

NCT ID NCT05880251

Summary

This study tested whether training the brain using real-time feedback could reduce phantom limb pain in people with amputations. Twenty participants with chronic phantom pain completed sessions where they received visual feedback about their brain's responses to gentle stimulation. The goal was to help the brain develop more normal patterns, which researchers hoped would lead to lasting pain reduction.
