Scientists use brain scans to 'Retrain' negative thoughts in depression

NCT ID NCT05169346

Summary

This study tested a new therapy that uses real-time brain scans to help people with depression. While inside an MRI machine, participants received feedback about their brain activity related to negative attention patterns. The goal was to see if this high-tech 'brain training' could reduce persistent negative thinking and lessen depression symptoms compared to a placebo version.
