Brain training may boost social skills in kids with autism
NCT ID NCT07149974
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests a brain training method that combines EEG and fNIRS to help autistic children aged 8 to 12 improve attention, emotion control, and social skills. Thirty children will receive neurofeedback sessions and complete thinking and behavior assessments. The goal is to see if this approach is practical and effective compared to single-method training.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
EEG-fNIRS neurofeedback device
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a non-drug brain training method to help autistic children improve attention, emotional control, and social skills.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early study with only 30 children, so results may not apply widely. The training may not produce lasting benefits or be practical for all children.
