Scientists scan brains to map toxic protein linked to dementia

NCT ID NCT03143374

Summary

This study aims to test a new brain imaging method to measure and map a protein called tau, which builds up in several neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and frontotemporal degeneration. Researchers will use a special PET scan on 300 participants, including people with these conditions and healthy volunteers, to see if the scan can accurately detect tau. The goal is to gather knowledge that could help improve future diagnosis and understanding of these diseases, not to provide direct treatment.
