Scientists listen to the brain learn music during surgery

NCT ID NCT05688683

Summary

This study aims to understand how the human brain learns complex motor-sensory skills, like playing a musical instrument. Researchers will record brain activity from 50 patients who are already undergoing awake brain surgery for epilepsy or a brain tumor. During surgery, patients will use a simple sound-making device to learn a new task, allowing scientists to directly observe the learning process in the brain.
