Scientists scan brains to unlock mystery of childhood trauma

NCT ID NCT04713722

Summary

This study aims to understand how severe stress in childhood affects the brain and increases the risk for depression later in life. Researchers will use brain scans and other tests on 160 young women to look for specific chemical and functional changes linked to past trauma. The goal is to learn why some people develop mental health problems after adversity while others remain resilient, which could help identify those at risk and guide future treatments.
