Brain scans could reveal why antidepressants fail millions

NCT ID NCT03537794

Summary

This study aims to understand why some people with depression don't respond to standard medications by comparing brain scans of three groups: people with treatment-resistant depression, people whose depression responds to medication, and healthy individuals. Researchers will use MRI and PET scans to measure dopamine receptors in specific brain regions. The goal is to identify biological differences that could lead to better treatments for the 30% of depression patients who don't get better with current medications.
