Brain scans could personalize addiction treatment for veterans

NCT ID NCT03799341

Summary

This study aimed to understand how brain activity might predict which type of reward-based therapy works best for Veterans recovering from cocaine addiction. Researchers studied 63 Veterans to see if brain signals measured before treatment could indicate whether they would respond better to therapy offering tangible prizes or voucher-based rewards. The goal was to use this brain information to help doctors choose the most effective treatment plan for each individual from the start.
