Mild brain zaps may reveal how aging changes thinking

NCT ID NCT07168031

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests whether a safe, mild electrical current applied to the scalp can change brain activity and thinking speed in healthy adults. About 196 younger (20-40) and older (60-80) adults will do computer tasks while receiving real or fake stimulation, with brain scans to see the effects. The goal is to understand how age influences the brain's response to stimulation, which could guide future research.
