Scientists zap brains to understand opioid Decision-Making
NCT ID NCT06577454
Summary
This study aims to understand how a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called TMS affects decision-making, particularly in people with opioid use disorder. Researchers will compare 60 participants—some with opioid use disorder and some healthy volunteers—using brain scans and computer tasks before and after receiving real or placebo stimulation. The goal is to gather knowledge about brain function related to risky choices, which could inform future treatments, but this study itself does not provide treatment.
