Brain pacemaker tested for most severe OCD cases

NCT ID NCT03184454

Summary

This study is testing an experimental brain implant that stimulates two connected brain areas to treat severe obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) that hasn't improved with standard therapies. Only 2 participants with extremely severe, long-lasting OCD symptoms will receive the implant, which aims to better regulate brain circuits involved in OCD. Researchers hope this dual-site stimulation approach will be more effective than existing single-site brain stimulation treatments.
