Brain implant trial offers hope for most severe depression cases

NCT ID NCT06096207

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether a surgically implanted brain stimulation device can help people with severe depression that hasn't responded to other treatments. Researchers will implant a device in 20 participants and track their symptoms over 5 years, periodically turning the device off without telling them to see if it's actually working. The goal is to determine if this brain stimulation approach is safe and effective for this difficult-to-treat condition.
