Brain pacemaker study seeks to tame debilitating tremors

Summary

This study offers deep brain stimulation (DBS) therapy to adults with Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, or dystonia whose symptoms are not well-controlled with medication. DBS involves surgically implanting a small device that sends electrical signals to specific brain areas to help control movement problems. Researchers will provide the therapy and follow participants for at least two years to monitor symptom changes, quality of life, and gather data for future research.
