Brain zap trial aims to unfreeze Parkinson's patients
NCT ID NCT05415774
Summary
This small pilot study tested whether adjusting the settings on an existing deep brain stimulator could help Parkinson's patients with a severe walking problem called freezing of gait. Ten patients who already had the brain implant tried three different stimulation patterns over three months to see if any worked better than the standard setting. The main goal was to see if the new settings could reduce the severity and frequency of their freezing episodes.
