New Brain-Zap target tested for untreatable seizures

NCT ID NCT04692701

Summary

This small pilot study is testing whether stimulating a specific, deep part of the brain called the medial pulvinar can reduce seizures in people with epilepsy that hasn't responded to drugs, surgery, or other devices. It involves 12 adults who have tried and failed other treatments. The main goal is to see if this new stimulation target significantly cuts down seizure frequency after one year, while also checking its effects on mood, thinking, and quality of life.
