Zapping the brain to sharpen the mind: new hope for depressed seniors

NCT ID NCT05400512

Summary

This study tested whether a gentle, non-invasive brain stimulation technique (tDCS) could boost the benefits of computerized brain training games for older adults with recurring depression. Sixteen participants aged 60+ with depression and memory complaints were randomly assigned to receive either real or fake stimulation alongside daily computer training for four weeks. Researchers measured changes in thinking skills and depression symptoms to see if the combination worked better than training alone.
