Zapping the brain to see how we react to emotions

NCT ID NCT07268001

Summary

This research study aimed to understand how briefly stimulating specific brain areas with magnets affects how quickly healthy young adults pay attention to emotional pictures. Ninety-one participants received a 40-second magnetic stimulation session and then completed a computer task where they reacted to pleasant, distressing, and neutral images. Researchers compared real stimulation on the left or right side of the brain to fake (sham) stimulation to see if it changed reaction speeds.
