First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looked at how deep brain stimulation (DBS) changes brain activity in people with Parkinson's disease while they performed driving and impulse-control tasks. Researchers used a special light-based imaging technique to measure blood flow in the brain with the stimulator turned on and off. The goal was to understand how DBS works, not to test a new treatment. Fifteen participants took part in this early-phase study.
