Brain training for pain: fibromyalgia patients learn to tame their own brain signals
NCT ID NCT07023523
First seen Nov 03, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tests whether people with fibromyalgia can learn to control their own brain activity using real-time brain scans (fMRI) to reduce chronic pain. Participants will attend 8 weekly sessions with a pain psychologist and be randomly assigned to either cognitive behavioral therapy or fibromyalgia education. The goal is to see if self-regulating brain activity in pain-related areas can lead to less pain and better coping.
