Brain scans could reveal who will suffer after knee surgery

NCT ID NCT07464080

Summary

This study aims to understand why some people remain unhappy after knee replacement surgery despite the procedure being generally successful. Researchers will use MRI brain scans taken before surgery to look for patterns in brain activity that might predict which patients will experience ongoing pain or functional problems afterward. By studying 50 patients having their first knee replacement, the goal is to find brain-based markers that could help doctors better prepare patients or tailor treatments to improve satisfaction.
