Brain scans during sleep could revolutionize PTSD diagnosis

NCT ID NCT04209387

Summary

This study aimed to find objective brain-based markers for PTSD, moving beyond reliance on patient interviews and questionnaires. Researchers measured electrical brain activity (EEG) during sleep in veterans with PTSD at different stages of their therapy. The goal was to see if specific brain patterns could reliably indicate the presence of PTSD, its severity, and how a person responds to treatment.
