New brain scan may predict which hydrocephalus patients will benefit from surgery

NCT ID NCT06857136

Summary

This study tested whether a special type of MRI scan, called DTI-ALPS, can help doctors better diagnose normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) and predict which patients will improve with treatment. Researchers compared brain scans from 29 patients with suspected NPH to scans from healthy people of similar age. They tracked whether the scan results could predict if patients would respond well to a spinal fluid test and to brain shunt surgery.
