New strategy aims to shield the brain during risky heart operations
NCT ID NCT07048002
Summary
This study is testing whether a special anesthesia plan focused on protecting the brain can reduce hidden strokes and thinking problems after heart surgery. Researchers will compare this new plan to standard care in over 900 older adults having planned heart surgery. The goal is to see if carefully controlling blood pressure, brain oxygen, and other factors during surgery leads to better brain health up to a year later.
