Could low brain NAD signal Alzheimer's? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT07127510

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at whether people with Alzheimer's disease have lower levels of a natural chemical called NAD in their brains compared to healthy older adults. Researchers will use a special brain scan (MRS) to measure NAD levels in 20 volunteers aged 65 to 80. Participants will have two scans, eight months apart, to track any changes. The goal is to better understand the role of NAD in Alzheimer's, not to test a treatment.
