New brain scan could predict chemo side effects in kids with leukemia

NCT ID NCT06421155

First seen Apr 21, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a special, quick brain MRI (called magnetic resonance fingerprinting) can detect changes in the brains of children and young adults (ages 0-30) with acute leukemia who are receiving chemotherapy. Participants will have brain scans and take a fun, game-like memory test on an iPad at several time points during and after treatment. The goal is to see if the brain scan results match up with thinking and memory problems, which could help doctors identify those at risk early.
