New scan may spot brain tumors better than MRI
NCT ID NCT04890028
First seen Apr 10, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tested whether a special PET scan called DOPA PET/CT can find untreated brain metastases (cancer that spread to the brain) as well as or better than standard MRI. Researchers studied 32 adults with lung cancer, breast cancer, or melanoma who had at least one brain metastasis seen on MRI. The goal was to see if the PET scan could detect more or different metastases, which could help guide future treatment decisions.
