Brain waves may predict oxygen therapy success in ICU patients

NCT ID NCT07279831

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looks at how the brain and lungs work together in adults with severe breathing problems who need high-flow oxygen in the intensive care unit. Researchers will use special brain wave and oxygen level monitors to see if changes in brain activity can predict who will need a breathing tube. The goal is to better understand why some patients improve with oxygen therapy while others do not.
