Brain Wave-Guided care could change how we treat severe head trauma

NCT ID NCT05337618

Summary

This study is testing whether using real-time monitoring of harmful brain waves, called spreading depolarizations, can help doctors better guide treatment for patients with severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). About 72 patients who need emergency brain surgery will be enrolled. The goal is to see if adjusting treatments like sedation and blood pressure based on these brain wave readings can reduce secondary brain damage and improve recovery.
