This study followed 826 adults who were in the ICU for serious conditions like respiratory failure or shock. The goal was to find out which factors, such as delirium or certain medications, might lead to long-term problems with thinking and memory. By identifying these risks, researchers hope to develop ways to prevent or reduce cognitive decline in future ICU patients.
