Spot sign on brain scans may flag high risk of death or disability
NCT ID NCT07172542
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study will follow 50 people with brain hemorrhage to see if a feature called the 'spot sign' on CT scans can predict who is at higher risk of death or disability. Researchers will compare these scan findings with standard risk scores. The goal is to improve early identification of high-risk patients, but this is an observational study and does not test any new treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors better identify brain hemorrhage patients at highest risk, leading to more targeted care.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early observational study (50 participants) that only looks at scan markers—it does not test any treatment, so it may not change outcomes directly.
